FAMILY FIRST: Sleep Problems

Do you find your kids having a tough time getting to bed or getting going since the time change?

We spoke with a local sleep expert about making sure they stay on track.

"One of the worst things a parent can do is force a kid to go to bed when they're not ready for bed because in the long run that could lead to long term sleep problems," says Dr. Katheryn Middleton with Dean and St. Mary's Sleep Center.

Dr. Katheryn Middleton with the Dean and St. Mary's sleep center says it's best to let your kids stay up a little later if they're not tired.

But be sure to get them up at the same time every morning.

Because after all, it's not a really big difference.

"When we go on vacation we don't think about how am I going to feel how am I going to get up, how am I going to get through the day, we're ready to go!"

Dr. Middleton recommends adults, too, try to wake up at the same time every morning to keep the body on track, no matter what season we're in.
