Are you losing sleep over what's happening in the economy?
If so, you are certainly not alone.

Every year, the national sleep foundation does a poll on people's sleep habits.
This year it found one-third of adults aren't even getting six hours of sleep per night many because of what's happening to their money.

Dr. Katheryn Middleton from Dean & St. Mary's sleep center says the first step toward fixing the problem don't go to bed unless you're tired!

" A lot of people think they should go to bed at a certain time b/c if the clock says it's that time then that's their bedtime when in fact if you're thinking about your worries and concerns you have and if you're not sleepy you really shouldn't go to bed b/c if you do you're going to lie there awake and start to develop this pattern anxiety of your ability to sleep."

Dr. Middleton also recommends avoiding certain habits just before bed.
Things like balancing your checkbook, talking about your finances, and logging online.

" The other thing you don't want to do is be surfing the net before you go to bed or playing computer games. Because the light from computer is very activating to your brain and sleep centers. Beyond the fact that you don't always have control over what your surfing or what you're going to find."

The other key piece of advice from local experts is to get up at the same time every morning no matter what time you went to bed.
And that includes your kids!
