In today's Family first, it can be a very long winter for the parents who are used to running around with their kids outside.
But one local workout group has found a way to keep those stroller wheels moving.
"It's really nice b/c they're able to get their workout in but it's also a great social network for them... for new moms and moms who just moved here recently. "
Katie Hargrove, a trained nurse, moved here from Boston about a year ago and started up the franchise called "Stroller Strides."
"Everybody loves coming because they're with their friends as well as getting a workout and then their babies are having fun and meeting other kids as well."
Classes include cardiovascular and toning stations.
It's offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and anywhere from 5-15 moms attend.
" The moms make the workout their own. We have moms that are runners, we have moms that are 6 weeks post partum so really the class is designed for all fitness levels and we try to make the classes so they can get the best workout while they're here with their babies. "
And as soon as the weather turns around, the classes head outdoors!
First class is free.
Right now, it's Monday and Wednesday at Keva Sports then Friday at Hilldale.
They do a playgroup after class on Friday, too.
They offer 10 class pass punch cards. $100 for 10 classes (so $10 per class).
Or a membership is $50 a month, a deal for those who come 3 times a week.
