In Family First: a 9 year old from Madison has been accepted into a very elite program for chess prodigies.
Awonder Liang is no stranger to chess. He won a gold medal last year in the "World Youth Chess Championship" in Brazil. He is now one of 7 students who have been selected to train under a 5 year grant.
It is designed to develop American chess prodigies from across the United States.
The program, Young Stars Team USA, started their training in St. Louis in June. Program participants range in age from 9 to 15 years old.
