A report from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows a disturbing trend among young girls and boys.
The report warns doctors eating disorders among young kids are escalating. A recent analysis found that in the last decade, hospitalizations for eating disorders more than doubled among kids under 12-years-old.
"They're leaving the table right away and going to the bathroom to purge what they've just eaten, eating a ton of food real fast and then leaving the table, talking a lot about food and that they have to be on a diet," according to St. Mary's dietitian, Marianne Merrick.
Merrick says there has been an emphasis on the obesity epidemic and that is influencing a lot of kids to get skinny. She says it's important to talk with your children about eating healthy.
