In Family First: many dogs on our Pet of the Week segment are surrenders because families cannot afford to feed their pets.

Now, 30 local businesses are working to keep pets in their homes, where they belong.

The Dane County Humane Society and the community action coalition are working with businesses to help people keep their beloved pets in these tough economic times. One of those business is Ruffin it Resort in Madison.

They have a collection bin, where you can drop off pet food in bags or cans, to be delivered to families in our area.

And it's not just for dogs. They are also collecting cat food and cat litter. The donation period runs through the end of June.
