Students and staff at a local school want to put an end to bullying. This week at Schenk Elementary School on Madison's near East Side, students and staff have been taking steps to eradicate bullying with their No Bullying initiative.

Students have been participating in a variety of activities like essay contests and signing a No Bullying pledge. Teachers have also been working anti-bullying lessons into the curriculum.

"It's just not right to hurt others or make others feel bad and when you're hurting others you're not only hurting them, you're hurting yourself because you don't have any friends," says student Jason Scott-Jones.

"I really think kids are going to follow the lead of other kids and to get them up front and center saying we don't like this we don't want this to happen. I think that's going to make a really big difference in what other kids do," according to Schenk Elementary social worker Jenny Markwiese.

The school will wrap up the week with a Walk for Peace on Friday afternoon.
