WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin says it's received the single, largest unrestricted gift in its history.
A $1 million donation has been made by the estate of Nils Folke Becker and Jean Becker.
Foundation executive director Jean Tehan tells Wisconsin Public Radio News because the gift is unrestricted, it can be spent on a variety of community projects.
The foundation has funded a number of big projects in the Wausau area, including development of a downtown city square, a grandstand at Marathon Park and improvements to the kayak and canoe course in the downtown area.
