Push to allow some 17-year-olds to vote in Wisconsin

Video will be available shortly.

There's a push to allow some 17-year-olds to vote in Wisconsin.

State Senator Fred Risser is drafting a bill that would allow 17-year-olds to vote in the primary election if they turn 18 by the general election.

He says it would add to voter interest.

Risser says, "You have a cycle and the primary is a very important part of the election process. and this would give one also an opportunity to participate in the entire cycle."

He says eight other states have already adopted this rule.

The proposal will be introduced next January.
