Take a drive through the Dells and with all the hotels, restaurants and water slides, it's hard to imagine this is a community of only a few thousand people.
And it might be even harder to imagine this community would have a need for 10,000 seat sports arena.
"Our project is ambitious," said Mike Kaminski, Chula Vista resort CEO.
Kaminski is talking about the addition he's planning on adding to the Chula Vista resort in Wisconsin Dells.
It will include more than five acres of convention centers, condominiums and a sports complex that can accomodate 10,000 athletes and fans.
And Kaminski says he's confident they'll be able to use it all.
"There's a void of facilities in the Midwest and especially a void of these kinds of facilities in Wisconsin Dells at this scale," said Kaminski. "We've indentified that as a market, we're chasing that market and we've had a tremendous amount of interest."
Kaminski says the construction costs will be paid for with private money, with the help of tax breaks from the city.
He says the payoff will be a huge economic boost that will add close to one thousand new jobs.
"We're absolutely thrilled that a project like this is coming to the Wisconsin Dells area," said Romy Snyder, Wisconsin Dells convention and visitor bureau.
Snyder says the project will boost the area's already booming year-round resort industry.
And Snyder says the massive size of the project doesn't surprise her one bit.
"One of the great things about the business owners of Wisconsin Dells is that most of their projects seem ambitious and they always find a way to make it work."
