Thursday morning, after his truck plows into the front of a house in Cobb. Both the driver and the homeowner, who was sleeping on the other side of the house at the time, survived the crash.

Truckers passing through Cobb, Wisconsin usually take in the sights of Highway 18, but never before has one put the town on the map for a sight like Thursday's crash.

Iowa County Sheriff's Deputies say a semi driver for Crouse Cartage Company veered off the road around 10 a.m. Thursday, plowing into resident Mike Francis' garage and living room. Investigators say the driver was likely traveling at or below the 30 mile-per-hour speed limit and probably never applied the breaks.

53-year-old Cobb native Mike Francis was on the opposite side of his home when he was abruptly awakened.

"I was in the back of the house in the bedroom sleeping and next thing I know the ceiling is falling down on me and I'm hearing horns blaring," says Francis. "I was surprised he was still in the truck. I couldn't figure out what was going on but they were working on him when I finally got outside."

Iowa County Sheriff Steve Michek says the driver was taken to a Dodgeville hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say the man may have had a medical emergency, but have not yet determined why he lost control.

Later Thursday, Mike Francis watched crews secure what is left of the structure of his house and free the semi from the wreckage. He says he's just grateful to have been in the right place at the right time.

"I was sound asleep where I am usually that time of day, so it's probably good timing," says Francis.

At last check, the semi driver was being treated at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

Mike Francis says homeowners insurance will help him out. He says he is not sure whether he will rebuild his house, which has been in his family for nearly thirty years.
