Laura Bush campaigns for Gard in Wisconsin congressional race

First lady Laura Bush is expected to raise about a $125,000 for John Gard during a visit to northeastern Wisconsin on Tuesday.

The Assembly speaker is running for the Eighth District congressional seat, one of 29 open House seats. Democrats need to pick up 15 seats November 7th to gain control of the House.

President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and 2008 presidential hopeful Senator John McCain have campaigned and hosted fundraisers
for Gard demonstrating the importance Republicans put on holding
the seat.

Gard faces Democrat Steve Kagen, a millionaire doctor from Appleton.
