Squad Car Involved in Hit-and-Run

Video will be available shortly.

Another local officer is no doubt feeling a little lucky after coming in contact with an alleged hit-and-run driver last night.

The first incident happened a week ago on the Interstate, when a drunk driver allegedly hit a state trooper during a traffic stop .

At the least the officer was in his car during last night's crash.

And that's probably part of the reason why no one was hurt.

But regardless of whether someone was hurt or not, the driver of the vehicle that hit the Dane county sheriff deputy's squad car, is facing some serious charges.

Police say 27-year-old Jeffrey Fenner was taking a left onto county road PD, from Nesbitt road, when he struck the deputy's vehicle, which was taking a left onto Nesbitt from PD.

It wasn't part of a traffic stop, like last week's incident, it just an ordinary crash that involved a squad car.

"As with any other vehilce traveling through the intersection at the time, the person failed to yield the right-of-way and struck the squad car and then fled the area," said Lt. Todd Stetzer, Fitchburg police department.

Police say Fenner fled the scene and caused another crash in Madison, before Fitchburg police were able to arrest him on foot a short time later.

Tonight, Fenner is facing felony hit-and-run charges, along with an OWI.
