A judge has ruled that school records of a 15-year-old boy accused of gunning down his principal can not be turned over to prosecutors.
The ruling comes after Eric Hainstock's attorney argued that the records are confidential.
Sauk County Circuit Judge Patrick Taggart issued the ruling denying the prosecutors' request Monday.
Hainstock faces a charge in adult court of first-degree intentional homicide and a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
District Attorney Pat Barrett argued for being able to get the records, saying that they are relevant to the case.
Prosecutors obtained the records but Taggart has sealed them.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for January 30th.
