A Monticello woman accused of luring an elderly acquaintance to her home, fatally shooting her and stealing her money is sentenced to life in prison today.
24-year-old Mary Sidoff was convicted in Green County Circuit Court of first-degree intentional homicide, theft and hiding a corpse.
The victim, 88-year-old Ardelle Sturzenegger of Janesville, was known to carry large amounts of cash in her purse. Prosecutors say Sidoff took about $50,000 from the victim after killing her last October, then hid her body in a field.
Judge James Beer set parole eligibility at 45 years. The court also ordered Sidoff to pay more than $28,000 in restitution.
