Allied Drive Community Says No To Eviction

Video will be available shortly.

Residents say they have no place to go, some have kids and low incomes and don't have many options.

That's why tonight the community came together to find out if this can be prevented or if there are other options.

The deadline for residents is December 31st; property owners plan to revitalize the apartment.

Tonight, not a lot of people were clear on who was getting evicted, but everyone agreed one month is not enough time to relocate families that in some cases have stayed there for years.

"This is just a sad time it's supposed to be a time of giving but it seems like now on Allied Drive it's a time of taking, their taking people’s lives away from them," says Alice Howard.

The landlord of the building was invited to the meeting but did not attend.
This all came about because the property owner was worried about a public nuisance abatement order.

At tonight's meeting the group did want to know if there are any relocation plans for families in the works, if so, how much it will cost them. They also plan to get the Mayor involved.
