Pregnant Woman Killed

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee authorities say a 31-year-old pregnant woman was killed when a semi truck backed into her.

Authorities say Laurie Voltz was at a trucking depot with her boyfriend yesterday -- and when she went to throw a trash bag into a garbage bin, another truck driver backed into her.

According to a report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner, the driver of that truck told police he didn't see Voltz. The report quotes him as saying he felt a bump, then got out of the truck to find her lying on the ground.

Voltz, who was dragged several feet, was declared dead at the scene.

She was several months pregnant.

The report says a cell phone was found next to her but it was unclear whether she was on the phone when the accident occurred.

The report says the driver was not at fault. It says he wasn't impaired and he's not likely to be charged with any crime.
