Sun Prairie School Officials Express Concern Over Picture

Sun Prairie school officials say they're concerned about an illustration in a local paper.

The district announced that any student in a fight at school where the behavior rises to a criminal level will be arrested by police.

In a Wisconsin State Journal article published today about the new procedure, an illustration shows a student with a backpack on in handcuffs.

District Administrator Tim Culver says the illustration sensationalizes the story, and doesn't portray how an arrest would likely be made in a school setting.

Culver says, "They always say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I hope the community read the thousand words because there are some issues there beyond what might be portrayed by the clip art in the photo."

We talked to Tim Kelley, managing editor of the Wisconsin State Journal by phone today, he said:

"The picture is clearly labeled as a photo illustration. The State Journal has not received any calls or complaints regarding the picture."
