Press Release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office:
On 05/31/10, at 12:37 am, Rock County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with officers from Evansville Police Department, Evansville EMS/Fire, and City of Janesville Paramedics responded to N. USH 14 and W. Union Road for a single motorcycle crash with injuries. The crash occurred approximately 2.5 miles north of the City of Evansville.
Upon arrival, EMS personnel found the driver, a 64 year-old-male from Middleton, WI lying on the ground unresponsive. CPR was initiated and Med-Flight was requested to respond, however, life saving measures were unsuccessful and the Rock County Coroner pronounced the driver deceased at 2:45 a.m.
The accident investigation reveals that the driver was northbound on USH 14 and had just completed negotiating a curve. The driver then proceeded to drive off the road onto the east gravel shoulder. The driver struck a culvert and was ejected. The driver suffered a head injury as a result of being ejected and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol and failure to have control appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Identity of the driver is pending notification of family.
