ROLLING STONES PLAY SMALL SURPRISE CONCERT IN PARIS
PARIS (AP) -- Word got around quickly in Paris: The Rolling Stones were doing a surprise warm-up gig there and tickets were less than $20. However, only 350 tickets were available, there was a limit of two per person, and buyers' names were printed on the tickets with ID's required at the door. The show was last night. The Rolling Stones often do surprise gigs in small venues to prepare for a tour. In this case it's to prepare for their two shows in London and two in Newark, New Jersey, later this year.
AEROSMITH PLAN SURPRISE STREET PARTY IN BOSTON
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Aerosmith plan to show up on the streets of Boston on November 5 and just play. Where that will be won't be revealed until that morning, and they will play around noon. It's in celebration of the release of their new album, "Music From Another Dimension," which comes out the next day. It's also a get-out-the-vote party, because "Music From Another Dimension" comes out on Election Day. Aerosmith say you can vote for whomever you choose, just vote.
CARLY RAE JEPSEN NAMED RISING STAR OF THE YEAR
NEW YORK (AP) -- Carly Rae Jepsen has been named Billboard magazine's Rising Star of 2012. Jepsen says she was influenced by many female artists and she hopes to inspire budding musicians the way those women inspired her. She will be honored at Billboard's Women in Music event in New York on November 30. Katy Perry has been named Woman of the Year.
STATUS QUO: ABOUT THOSE THREE CHORDS...
LONDON (AP) -- Status Quo are famous for being a three-chord band -- and guitarist Francis Rossi finds that annoying. He says he's taken offense to that for a long time, even though a lot of their songs are three or four chords. Rossi says no one says, "I love that song. If only it had one more chord." He says it's easy to put down a band and find a cheap excuse like "it's only three chords." Guitarist Rick Parfitt says when they started, he would never have believed they would achieve the success they have.
CHRIS KIRKPATRICK OF 'N SYNC IS ENGAGED
NEW YORK (AP) -- Chris Kirkpatrick of 'N Sync says he got so caught up in the beauty of his Italian vacation that he proposed to his girlfriend. Kirkpatrick tells People magazine it hit him he wanted to propose to marketing rep Karly Skladany, so he ran to a jewelry store and got a ring. She said yes. He happened to be in Italy when his former bandmate, Justin Timberlake, married Jessica Biel there, but he didn't go to the wedding. None of the members of 'N Sync did. Kirkpatrick says Timberlake didn't want to turn it into an 'N Sync reunion and he completely understands that.
CEE LO GREEN PLANS HOLIDAY SPECIAL
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Cee Lo Green isn't joking about keeping in touch with rejected contestants on "The Voice." Nineteen of them will join him on his Christmas special, "Cee Lo's Magic Moment." He also duets with Rod Stewart on "Merry Christmas Baby," with Eric Benet on "Silent Night," and with The Muppets on his new holiday song, "All I Need Is Love." The special runs on TV Guide Network on November 30. The holiday album "Cee Lo's Magic Moment" comes out Tuesday.
ADAM LEVINE GETS INTO "AMERICAN HORROR STORY"
NEW YORK (AP) -- Adam Levine had no problem getting down and dirty for "American Horror Story." He had some steamy scenes with Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and he says he's not uncomfortable with things like that. He tells People magazine she is a pro and they were laughing the whole time.
KELLY CLARKSON MAKES MARDI GRAS PLANS
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Kelly Clarkson will be the celebrity grand marshal for a Mardi Gras parade. Clarkson will ride in the Krewe of Endymion parade on February 9 in New Orleans. That parade also will have a float that's described as the largest in Mardi Gras history: 250 feet long with more than 200 riders.
BON JOVI ANNOUNCE CANADIAN DATES
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Bon Jovi are planning a big tour -- of Canada. They will hit the U.S. as well, but they've only announced the Canadian dates. Why? Because they can -- which happens to be the name of the tour. "Bon Jovi Because We Can -- The Tour" begins February 13 in Montreal. U.S. dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
ELIZABETH TAYLOR BEATS OUT MICHAEL JACKSON ON FORBES DEAD CELEBRITY LIST
NEW YORK (AP) -- Elizabeth Taylor edges out Michael Jackson as the top-earning dead celebrity of the past year, according to Forbes magazine. Taylor's total earnings in the past year was $210 million. Most of that came from a series of auctions of her art collection and personal items that earned $184 million. Jackson ranks second with $90 million. Elvis Presley is third with $55 million, followed by Peanuts creator Charles Schulz with $37 million and Bob Marley in fifth, with $17 million.
"AMERICAN IDOL" WILL PREMIERE JANUARY 16
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- How much of the Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey bickering will we get to see? Find out after the new year. Fox has announced the premiere date for "American Idol" as January 16.
