ALY RAISMAN-PARADE

NEEDHAM, Mass. (AP) -- No need to guess why Aly Raisman says this has been the best summer of her life. The Olympic gold medalist was honored with a hometown parade in Needham, Massachusetts, yesterday. She rode on a yellow Lamborghini convertible as thousands cheered. The 18-year-old Raisman was the captain of the U.S. women's gymnastics team that won the gold medal at the London Olympics. She also won individual gold in the floor exercise and bronze on the balance beam. The Boston Globe reports Raisman told her neighbors, "I hope I made you all proud."

KEY FOUND

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- It's a key to the city -- far from the city. John Hakala has found a plaque and a key to the city of Parkersburg, West Virginia -- 4,000 miles away in Germany. He came across the Parkersburg key in the back of a wine shop. Hakala is a member of the West Virginia Air National Guard and bought the key for seven bucks. He tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel he plans on returning it to the city.

CAKE PANS-LIBRARIES

GREAT BEND, Kan. (AP) -- You can get more than books at the Great Bend Public Library. Patrons of the Kansas library can also check out cake pans. The pans even come with instructions on how to decorate a cake. The Great Bend library isn't alone. The Hutchinson News reports dozens of rural libraries in the state have the pans, too. Retired Great Bend library official Terri Hurley says people would often buy a cake pan, use it once than donate it to the library. She says their cake pan collection keeps growing.

QUINTUPLET KINDERGARTNERS

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) -- It's a Brooks population explosion at a suburban Kansas City school. The Brooks quintuplets make up a quarter of their kindergarten class in Olathe, Kansas. Principal Barry Cook tells the Kansas City Star the three girls and two boys all have different personalities. The quints also have a big sister. Now, their mom Kate Brooks says she's going to have to get used something new around the house -- quiet.

BUS DRIVER SINGS

NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City bus driver Christopher Dolan does more than sing out the stops. He's also an opera singer. He often busts out with an aria at the request of passengers. Dolan stands by his bus at the end of the route and belts them out. He tells the Daily News he always has some sheet music in case riders have a request. Dolan has also performed the national anthem and "God Bless America" at events like the transit authority's 9/11 memorial ceremony.

SUMMER STOOGES CAMP

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- They're going from Stooges to beginning students again. Camp is over for some Chowderheads-in-Training. For a week, kids got to learn about slapstick at "Summer Stooges" camp staged by the Morgantown, West Virginia, Theatre Company. Instructor Katie Luckini says they were doing a lot with double-takes and slow burns. But she says safety is always stressed. Luckini tells the Dominion Post it's not funny if someone gets hurt.
