MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Winter is just around the corner. And state emergency management officials want everyone in Wisconsin to be prepared.
Public service announcements will air on radio and television stations this month urging people to keep a kit with emergency supplies in their vehicles.
In the last five years Wisconsin has averaged 50,000 motor vehicle crashes during winter months, with 45 deaths annually on icy or snow-covered roads.
State emergency management officials say now is also the time to winterize your car and home and make sure you have a weather radio with fresh batteries.
More winter weather safety tips are available on the website readywisconsin.wi.gov.
