This week, thousands of fresh-faced students streamed onto the UW campus ready to start the new school year!
Move in day for freshmen was on Wednesday and Thursday. We sent Tim to campus to see if anyone needed some help moving in!
“Let's just see what we got,” said Kevin Quiring who is moving in his freshman daughter Grace.
It's a hectic and emotional day for parents and their children.
“You got a lot of stuff?” Tim asks Kevin.
And for dad...
“Ohh man!” Kevin yells as he picks up a heavy box.
It may mean a sore back!
“We are moving our oldest daughter into college for the first time,”
Kevin and his wife Ann are from Minneapolis. they're moving their daughter Grace into Ogg Hall and Tim is helping out.
“I'm looking to help somebody,” says Tim.
“Thank you!” Ann responds.
“It's a great day to move in too!” Tim says of the beautiful summer weather.
“I'm just really excited, a little nervous but mostly I'm just excited to be here I've been waiting all summer to be here,” says Grace.
Grace checks out her room for the first time.
“Oh wow, looks like just like the pictures!”
As she does that...
“Wanna take another arm full?” asks Kevin. “Yeah, I think I can handle this air foam mattress,” responds Tim.
Tim is hauling her stuff up the steps to her third flood room.
“This gets my workout out of the way for the day,” says Tim. “It's a good thing I didn't pick someone who lives on the eighth floor!”
“Hey, this is nice,” Tim says as he checked out the room for the first time.
“I'm envious!” admits Kevin “Feels good to be on campus and all the excitement and energy and seeing all the bright-eyed bushy tailed kids and their parents,”
“I was looking at schools all over but I just got pulled to UW, it just has everything, it's such great school I couldn't NOT go here,” says Grace.
Before he leaves, dad has some advice
“Just have fun, make good decisions,”
And Grace can't sit still.
“Oh, I'm just so excited to see what it has to bring for me I just don't know what to expect,” said Grace as she bounces her legs nervously.
They may be be from Golden Gopher country, but this Wisconsin dad is ready to back Bucky!
“I'll adjust, I'll shift my allegiances,” says Kevin. “It might take a couple of weeks but by the time parent's weeks gets here, I'll be all go big red!”
