VIDEO REPORT: Tim's Travels: Tough Mudder

"Fun runs" are a unique and cool way to get your exercise. The Tough Mudder came to Wisconsin last weekend and Tim took on the challenge!

The Tough Mudder is so intense that you have to sign a death waiver before you can participate!

And in case you don't know, it's a 12-mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces. It's purpose: to push your mind and body to the limit.

“I'm here to do the Tough Mudder, here to get dirty,” said participant Brandon Herbert.

There's no escaping it.

“I can't really see myself but I'm guessing I'm pretty muddy,” laughed Jeff Davis after the challenge.

The mud is everywhere.

“There was a ton of mud!” added Herbert.

Welcome to Tough Mudder 2012!

“I had a mud party for my 5th birthday so this is really bringing me back,” joked Herbert.

These brave participants are putting themselves in harm's way just for fun!

“It's a challenge,” said Herbert. “You get to crawl through mud holes, jump over big walls and try to avoid electric shock,”

NBC 15 gave Tim a hand-held, water proof camera to document his journey through the challenge.

First up: the ice bath

“Hopefully I don't get to too cold,” said Herbert. “There's an ice bath one that could be a little rough,”

You're clean for a short time before you gotta get down and dirty once again.

“There was a tunnel that you had to crawl through and that was muddy water,”

Then it's out of the mud and onto dry land. But not for long. A creek stands in your way.

A fear of heights needs to be reconciled before you jump off a wooden platform into water below.

“The coolest one was probably the cliff jump,” said Davis.

But then it's on to the obstacle everyone despises.

“I'm a little nervous about the electric shock,”

Soaking wet and covered in mud, participants navigate their way through a field of live wires — some carrying as much as 10,000 volts of electric shock

“The shock was pretty bad,” said Justin Gutoski. “It felt like something I can't really describe. It felt like half my body was paralyzed and I fell down and ran through the rest,”

These people might be a little crazy. But don't knock it until you've tried it.

“I'd say definitely do it, it's a really fun time,” added Herbert.

Tim completed the Tough Mudder unscathed.
