It's a sport that's been extremely popular in Madison for a long time. So popular in fact that we now have a professional team. We're talking about Ultimate Frisbee!

The Madison Radicals is made up of former Badgers who played throughout college.

It's a sport of speed, agility, and endurance.

“I love the intensity,” said Michael Swain. “I'm an athletic guy, I'm fast, i can jump and I love to sprint so I feel like it's perfect for me,”

This is Ultimate Frisbee.

“Madison has had a long tradition of ultimate,”

Madison has been a hot spot for the sport for years. But now, we have our very own professional team: the Madison Radicals.

“I'm really proud to be representing Madison,” said Andrew Brown. “It means a lot because ultimate in Madison has given me a lot,”

The radicals are members of the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). It's a league comprised of 12 teams from all over the country.

“I enjoy playing for fun but at this level I play because i enjoy winning,” added Brown.

The rules are simple: It's 7 on 7. You can't run with the Frisbee. You toss it to your teammates, make your way down the field, and get it in the end zone for a score.

Did i mention there's a lot of running? NBC 15's Tim Elliot stopped by a recent practice to see if I could keep up.

“These jerseys are sweet,” said Tim checking out the gear.

“Our colors are sort of green and navy,” said Brown.

On Tim's first and second attempt, he drops the Frisbee. But the third time is a charm.

“Anyone who plays it sort of gets addicted to it and you'll see them come out here and just throw and throw and throw for hours,” said Tim DeByl.

“But there is something about the mechanics of throwing and seeing that disc in the air that's really interesting,” added DeByl.

Tim eventually catches a few and even tosses a score!

“You can continually practice and get better and better and better,” said DeByl. “It's a combination of athleticism and skill,”

“You guys got an extra roster spot or what?” Tim asks.
