SHELBY, N.C. (AP) -- Goats do what goats do -- and they did it all over a football field at a North Carolina high school. School officials in Cleveland County are putting the Burns high football field off limits for at least another week. About a dozen goats were let loose on the field last Friday as a prank and they left a mess behind. A local paper (Shelby Star) reports Burns Principal Aaron Allen expects the football field to be ready by the end of next week. Now the goats are gone, he hopes the Bulldogs will be able to host a home playoff game.
FIVE BUCK BONANZA
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- How much is a five dollar bill worth? No, it's not a trick question. A collector paid almost $247,000 for the rare, nearly century-old five buck note. The 1905 bill was from the First National Bank of Fairbanks, Alaska. It was sold by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions, but they're not saying who bought it. It's one of only four bank notes of its kind.
CAR BURGLAR SAT ON
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Rene Huerta didn't sit this one out -- even though he was sitting down. Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico, report Huerta sat on a suspected crook until officers arrived. Police video shows Huerta on top of Michael Chavez. Police say Chavez and another man tried breaking into Huerta's SUV, setting off the alarm. KOAT-TV reports the sitting Huerta thanked officers as they arrived. Chavez is now charged with auto burglary.
BUCK CREEK, Ind. (AP) -- An Indiana pizza shop is giving farmers a slice. It's the harvest and hungry farmers don't have time to make a pizza run. So, Buck Creek Pizza is delivering pies to farmers on their combines. Pizzeria owner Jay Mitchell notes most pizza shops are in the city, and their drivers wouldn't know what a combine is or where to find one. Mitchell tells a local paper (Journal & Courier) he grew up on a farm and is glad to help.
SPACE MEMORABILIA AUCTION
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- It's an old checklist covered in dust. But it's expected to sell for around a-quarter of a million dollars. This checklist happened to go to the moon, and is coated with lunar dust. It's one of 600 space and aviation items being offered by a New Hampshire auction house next month. Other items include handwritten notes by Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, and even a Russian lunar map. The sale at RR Auction in Amherst begins the 21st.
REDONDO BEACH EYESORE
REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- There are giant spider webs and it looks awfully creepy. But it's not a Halloween haunted house. Folks in Redondo Beach call it the monster mansion. The huge Southern California home started to take shape eight years ago. The Los Angeles Times reports owner Rami Nassif is now heavily in debt. Neighbors say there's been no work done for at least four years. Nassif is to appear in court tomorrow, to be arraigned for building code and public nuisance violations.
