SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Apple has introduced a smaller iPad with a price starting at $329. The iPad Mini has a screen about two-thirds the size of the full-sized version and is thin as a pencil. It has cameras on the front and back. Wi-fi-only models come out November 2, while later models will be capable of accessing LTE wireless data networks. Apple also introduced the 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop with a Retina display with better resolution than the older model. It also uses flash memory instead of a hard drive. It's on sale now for $1,699.

NEW YORK (AP) -- E-book fans seem to be divided along generational lines. The Pew Research Center found people ages 16 to 29 prefer to read e-books on a desktop or laptop, with cellphone being the next preferred method. The survey found e-book readers older than 30 prefer e-readers like the Kindle.

ON THE WEB: CANCER GROUP ASKS FOR HELP GOING THROUGH DATA

LONDON (AP) -- Got a few minutes at lunch? Use them to help cure cancer. The British group Cancer Research U.K. has launched a website to ask people to help spot trends in breast cancer tumors. Organizers say volunteers would be given a short tutorial on what to look for. Each picture would be seen by several people to avoid accidental or incorrect input. Researchers normally would go through all the pictures, but there are thousands of photos. Volunteer help has worked before in this manner. Online users going over data have helped make important discoveries in astronomy and archeology.

IN STORES: EAT DORITOS NOW, GET "HALO 4" EXPERIENCE POINTS LATER

UNDATED (AP) -- You can earn experience points on "Halo 4" before it even comes out. Microsoft says specially marked packages of Mountain Dew and Doritos will contain codes that can be redeemed for double experience points online. The points will be banked for use in the War Games mode of "Halo 4." Users can also win prizes by redeeming codes. "Halo 4" comes out November 6.
