Hot Trends: Easter Brunch with Sandra Lee

Posted: Thursday, April 1, 2010 --- 4:16 a.m.

In this morning's hot trends report.

Easter may have crept up on you, but don't sweat it, there's still time to put together the perfect brunch.

Yesterday, I spoke to food network star and Wisconsin native, Sandra Lee about simple ways to entertain this holiday season.

She says, always decorate your table with edibles.

Starting with dessert in the middle ..she did a cupcake bouquet.

She says that gives people something to look forward to.

It also makes your table look like Spring...whether you are entertaining for Easter, mother's day or even father's day coming up in June.

"Now on either side of my cupcake bouquet I'm putting cake pedestals. On my cake pedestals I'm putting my maple sausage spring time quiche. it is a beautiful quiche and you can take all the credit and it goes together like that. "

Being a Wisconsin gal, Sandra uses Johnsonville sausage ...she says because it already has seasoning added.

She also says use a pre-made pie shell and pre-chopped mushrooms...because chopped or whole they save you time and money.

But the rest you should chop up on your own.

She included scallions, peppers and of course, cheese and then poured eggs over it last.
