Hot Trends: Eco-Friendly Jewelry

POSTED: Tuesday, April 19, 2011 4:00 a.m.

A Midwestern jewelry designer will show off her eco-friendly jewelry in Middleton on April 26.

Veronica Riley Martens runs her earth-friendly jewelry from a store in Chicago.

Many of her pieces are made from dyed Tagua nuts, which come from the fruit of palm trees in the South American rain forest. The product remains sustainable because the nuts are harvested without damaging the trees themselves.

Martens also sells necklaces made out of recycled paper by women in Uganda.

She'll hold her trunk show April 26 at Neena, located on the corner of Parmenter and Hubbard Ave.
