2 Janesville men in custody for robbery; 1 on the loose

Janesville Police say two men are in custody after an early morning robbery. A third suspect is still on the loose.

Police responded to the intersection of McKinley St. and S. Academy St. at 12:41 a.m. Thursday.

One of the victims told officers one of the men they were meeting there reached into their vehicle and took a wallet from the driver's hand. The victims later admitted to police they were meeting the suspects to buy narcotics.

One of the victims identified two of the suspects as former classmates.

About 15 minutes later, an officer spotted three people matching the description of the suspects inside the 5 Points Mobile gas station.

The three ran when police arrived. Officers caught two of them near the intersection of Madison St. and Laurel Ave.

Police arrested Devonte Poe and Taiwan Edward on a charge of party to a crime of robbery. The third suspect has not been found or identified.

Police found the wallet nearby.
