21-year-old sexually assaulted in Madison

Posted: Friday, September 27, 2013 --- 8:17 p.m.

A 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while looking for an apartment downtown Madison.

Town of Madison Police say the woman had met a man yesterday, downtown Madison, who was apparently helping the victim search for an apartment. The suspect then took the woman to a house on the 2400 block of Arboretum Dr, where he claimed there was a room for rent.

The suspect was apparently staying at the home while visiting relatives in the area and after showing the victim around the house he eventually attacked and sexually assaulted her multiple times.

After the attack the suspect apparently left the victim alone for a period of time, which she used to escape the home and call police.

The 21-year-old, who is not being identified, was treated at a Madison hospital for injuries sustained in the attack and was released.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect, who they believe may have left the state. However they are not releasing his identity for investigative purposes. The suspect is described as a 25-year-old white male, about 6 feet 4 inches tall and about 250 pounds.

The crime is still under investigation.
