Incident report from Madison Police Department:
On December 27th, around 2:25 a.m., a Madison Police officer drove up on two people who were struggling with one another on a sidewalk in the 400 block of Gilman Street.
A 25-year old man was on top of a person who was later identified as the suspect in an attempted robbery. The victim said he was walking with a pizza in a box when the suspect came out from behind a vehicle in a parking lot. He says the man pushed him with both hands and said, "What do you got?" The victim feared he was about to be robbed and battered, and decided to take the suspect to the ground. The suspect gave police another man's ID card and identified himself as someone he is not. Fingerprint records housed at the Dane County Jail enabled law enforcement to determine his true identity.
