Incident report from Madison Police Department:

On Monday morning, around 10:43 a.m., Madison Police were called to the 1000 block of Rockefeller Lane after a woman, and her boyfriend, were attacked in their apartment by a stranger.

Officers arrived to find the boyfriend and the suspect outside of a nearby apartment building. The woman reports, minutes earlier, the suspect had knocked loudly on the apartment door. Thinking he was a neighbor she let him in. He immediately grabbed her around the throat. She fell backward striking her head on the floor. The suspect then jumped on top of her. Her boyfriend, who had been in another room, heard the woman's cries for help and came running. He fought with the suspect, and was able to knock him off of his girlfriend.

The boyfriend - in his stocking feet - then chased the suspect outside as his girlfriend called 911. The boyfriend was punched in the face after chasing the suspect down. Neither victim knew the suspect, and it is unknown what motivated the attack. A detective has been assigned to the case.
