UPDATE: CrimeTracker 15: Panhandler Batters Man

Incident report from Madison Police Department:

On Monday evening, at 6:10 p.m., Madison Police responded to the intersection of N. Broom Street and West Gorham Street for a report of a fight.

An injured 50-year-old man was located. He said a guy approached him asking for 40-cents. The victim pulled out his money ($14) and gave the man $1.

The man grabbed the entire cash wad and walked away. The victim followed, demanded his money back. The robber responded by punching the victim in the face. The victim stumbled backwards, and struck his head on a dumpster. His head cut required multiple stitches. Officers later located and arrested the suspect.

Kenneth W. Pendleton, age 45, no permanent address
Mr. Pendleton was arrested for Robbery, and Substantial Battery.
