The Madison Police Department's District Community Police Team was doing proactive work in the 6700 block of Schroeder Rd. on Tuesday night when an armed suspect has taken into custody.
The police team was responding to citizen complaints about trespassing and possible drug dealing at an apartment complex.
A white Mercedes, that did not have a front license plate, was spotted leaving the area, and the driver was contacted by police.
The suspect denied having drugs, or any other contraband. MPD K9 Martie's nose indicated these statements did not pass his smell test. Marijuana, a loaded handgun, a large capacity magazine filled with ammunition, several cell phones, and hundreds of dollars in cash were discovered by officers.
Court records indicate the suspect was recently arrested in Milwaukee County for allegedly dealing cocaine.
