VIDEO REPORT: Body Pulled from Pond in Beloit

UPDATED: Wednesday, March 21, 2012 --- 3:00p.m.

BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- Police say the death of a Beloit woman whose body was found in a Walmart retention pond has been ruled accidental.

Beloit Police Capt. Bill Tyler says 49-year-old Michelle Lynn Burke Silbar died from multiple falls.

Silbar's body was found Saturday afternoon in the pond behind Walmart. Police reviewed surveillance video from area stores.

Tyler says Silbar fell "multiple times" and that she entered the pond on her own late Wednesday. He says she likely was impaired, although police are still waiting for toxicology results.

Tyler tells the Beloit Daily News that Silbar was known to walk around town, but police can't explain why she was in the pond area.

Beloit Police Captain William Tyler says police do not believe foul play was involved in the death of a 49-year-old Beloit woman whose body was found Saturday outside the Wal-Mart store.

The preliminary cause of death is that the victim died as a result of head injuries.

Police say surveillance video was crucial to them figuring out what happened in this case.

Tyler said, "I can't get into the details of everything we've seen, but all indications are there is nothing that indicates foul play at this point. There might have been some impairment on behalf of the victim."

Toxicology results are not yet available.

Tyler said, "It appears just to be a horrible, tragic situation, most likely precipitated by some behavior, some impairment. or both."
