Details: A west side homeowner was in bed Friday night when he heard loud bangs coming from the back of his house. He went to investigate, and saw two men walking away from his residence. Their footprints led to his rear garage door. Responding officers found a muddy smudge on the door, consistent with it being kicked. In the past few months, the MPD's West District has experienced a rash of home burglaries where intruders have gained entry by kicking in garage doors. In this case, it appears the homeowner’s presence may have scared suspects off.
Officers quickly set up a perimeter and were able to locate two suspects walking near Lindfield Rd. and Muir Field Rd. They were arrested on tentative charges listed above. Investigations into the rash of break-ins are ongoing, and it is not known if the two arrested men are connected to the crime wave.
