VIDEO REPORT: CrimeTracker 15 Alert: Second Man Arrested In Burglary Investigation

UPDATED Wednesday, October 17, 2012 --- 2:40 p.m.

From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:

Madison, WI. October 17, 2012 – Dane County Sheriff’s detectives have made a second arrest in connection with the recent rash of daytime residential burglaries.

Devin L. Robinson, age 27 of Belleville, was taken into custody this morning. Detectives have evidence connecting Robinson to several burglaries in the Town of Montrose, as well as one in the Village of Oregon. Robinson may be connected to additional burglaries after detectives sort through stolen property recovered from two search warrants conducted today as part of this investigation. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with Oregon and Belleville Police Departments.

The arrest of Devin L. Robinson today, and last week’s arrest of Kunga Chokden, will no doubt make a significant impact in reducing the daytime burglaries that have had so many Dane County residents on edge. However, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to ask citizens to be mindful to keep doors and windows locked. In addition, please report any and all suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency immediately.

Release from Dane County Sheriff's Office:

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Kunga Chokden, age 21 of Madison, in connection with several residential burglaries.

Late last week, the Sheriff’s Office warned citizens of a rash of daytime burglaries occurring in the western part of the county. Since that time, investigators made significant findings that led them to Kunga Chokden. A search warrant was conducted at his residence in the City of Madison, where detectives recovered a large quantity of evidence related to several of the burglaries. Chokden was booked into the Dane County Jail late Wednesday.

These crimes remain under investigation. Chokden has not been connected to all of the recent burglary cases, thus, the Sheriff’s Office cautions residents not to become lax in locking doors, windows, and vehicles. Continue to be aware of neighborhood activity and report anything that appears suspicious by calling 911 immediately.

From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:

Madison, WI. October 5, 2012 – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a large number of daytime burglaries occurring in the western part of the county.

Since August 16th, deputies have been called to 23 homes that were burglarized while the residents were away. In some cases the thieves left with nothing, while in others, they stole electronics, cash, jewelry, and guns. If the thieves find an unsecure door or window they take advantage of it, but they have also forced their way into homes on numerous occasions.

On Wednesday, October 3rd, three homes in the town of Westport were burglarized. As one of the homeowners approached their house, they witnessed a white Toyota or Honda leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Sheriff’s investigators are seeking information on the possible involvement of this vehicle in the burglaries, and any other tips related to these crimes. It remains unknown if all of these break-ins are related, but there are commonalities.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is asking citizens to be aware of neighborhood activity and report anything suspicious by calling 911 immediately. Protect belongings by locking doors, windows, and garages, in addition to securing valuables inside the home. Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the Dane County tip line at (608) 284-6900.
