On Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 8:13p.m. the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department was notified of an Armed Robbery that had just occurred at the Avoca Easy Stop, located at 401 E. Main Street in the Village of Avoca.
Preliminary investigation shows a male suspect entered the store, and displayed a knife to the Clerk working. The suspect then fled the store with a undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect’s vehicle was later found in the Town of Pulaski, and it was determined the vehicle had been stolen earlier. Detectives believe the suspect then got into a tan colored SUV, similar to a Chevrolet Blazer, and fled the area. The male suspect is described as being tall, slender build, and was wearing a black full face motorcycle helmet, with a dark colored face shield. The suspect was also wearing a green or blue long-sleeved shirt, and light colored blue jeans.
Deputies were assisted by the Grant and Richland County Sheriff’s Departments, and Muscoda Police.
