Victim(s): Female, age 70, Madison
Details: A 70-year old Milwaukee St. resident awoke last Friday morning to find her backdoor kicked in and her purse missing from a kitchen chair. The distraught victim told a responding officer that she had heard banging sounds during the night, but thought it might have been animals outside. She said her brown, fake leather purse was at least 30-years old.
MPD crime analysts determined there was an uptick in residential burglaries last week, when compared to the two previous weeks. There were 31 residential burglaries the week of March 24th. There were 15 the week of March 17th, and 19 the week of March 10th. They occurred in many areas of the city, with some clustering taking place in the Greentree Neighborhood (MPD's West District) and in the Regent St. corridor (MPD South District.)
