Details:
An alert citizen provided police with descriptions of four muggers, their getaway car and its license plate number.

Armed with that knowledge a State Capitol police officer pulled over a dark blue Dodge Intrepid moments after a 49-year old man was attacked in the 1200 block of Williamson St. early Saturday morning.

The 49-year old victim said the group demanded his wallet before knocking him to the ground.

They fled as the witness approached.

She told police the victim was being kicked and punched by the suspects. They were "taking turns" and "really wailing on this guy," she said.

The State Capitol police officer stopped car in the 300 block of S. Few St.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a broken nose.
