VIDEO REPORT: Neighbors Shocked by Marijuana Grow House

UPDATED: Tuesday, October 16, 2012 --- 11:00 p.m.

Neighbors are shocked to discover two men were arrested after investigators found $30,000 worth of marijuana in their house.

On Monday, a search warrant at a home in the Town of Fulton east of Edgerton revealed nearly 30 pounds of the drug. The two residents told investigators they grew several plants in an upstairs bedroom, and were drying more than 200 more in the basement.

Both 28-year-old Justin Mayo and 28-year-old Sean Slusser were arrested and face possible sentences of more than 30 years if convicted. They are due back in court later this month.

The bust is a surprise to neighbors, who say they thought the street was safe.

"To hear something like that is pretty outrageous and shocking," said 6-year resident Ashley Robinson, who has young children. "We take walks, actually very often, even today we just took a walk around the neighborhood."

"We've been at our house for 25 years," said Ronda Dorn. "It's just hopefully a once in a lifetime thing around my area."

Mayo told investigators he planted marijuana near Janesville, and brought it home to dry a week and a half ago. Multiple neighbors tell NBC 15 that a chain was installed blocking driveway access to the alleged grow house in the last few weeks, possibly about the time the harvest entered the home. Mayo also said their attempt to grow marijuana indoors had already failed twice.
