CrimeTracker 15: Madison Teen Mugged at East Transfer Point

Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Robbery

Incident Date: 02/05/2013 - 5:15 PM

Address: 102 West Corporate Dr. (East Transfer Point)

Suspect(s): Male, black, 16-18 years old, 6'1" to 6'2", medium complexion, thin build, short dreadlocks, wearing dark coat over a hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and dark shoes.

Male, black, 16-18 years old, 5'11" to 6'.

Male, black, 16-18 years old, 5'5" to 5'7", thin build.

Victim: Male, age 18, Madison

Details: A Madison teen was mugged at the East Transfer Point, 102 West Corporate Dr., around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The 18-year old victim said he was punched in the face, knocked to the ground, and kicked as three other teens ran hands through his pockets. They took off with his keys and Nintendo DS portable game console. The victim suffered cuts and abrasions.

    If attacked I think I would shoot and deal with the questions later...teach those little thugs a lesson

    If you get robbed, is it legal to shoot the suspect? Here's the scenario. Waitinng for the bus. Suspect tells you to give them your wallet, they hit you and take the wallet. Is it legal to take your concealed firearm and shoot the suspect? Obviously if you did shoot the suspect, there would be a fair amount of questioning and probably a trial of some sort. Family of the suspect will probably try to sue. At what point does it go from self-defense to homicide? I think people would be more willing to defend themselves if it was clear what a person can legally do. Cower in the corner and pray for life is not something I plan on doing.
