Posted Friday, July 5, 2013 --- 11:15 a.m.

Madison Police arrested a man in late June for allegedly trying to steal a display item from Blaine's Farm and Fleet.

Officers responded to the store on S. Stoughton Rd. June 30th for a call of a hostile man. He was being held by store staff for suspected retail theft.

23-year-old Michael Suter of Madison allegedly tried to walk out of the store with a laser measurer that was on display. He reportedly told police he thought it was a legitimate find since it was not in its original packaging.

Police say Suter later took responsibility for his actions. He was taken to jail on charges of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
