UPDATE: Middleton officers leave notes for drivers after thefts from cars

UPDATED Wednesday, July 3, 2013 --- 11:30 a.m.

Middleton Police are taking an extra step to make sure items are not stolen from your car.

Last month there were several cases of theft from cars reported in the city.

This morning, many people on Elmwood Ave. found what police are calling “Crime Prevention Notices” on their vehicles.

Officers looked to see if car doors were locked and if valuables were left in plain sight. The form then says if the owner passed or failed.

Middleton Police are investigating nine car break-ins that happened overnight.

The burglaries happened in the Orchid Heights and North Lake neighborhoods, mostly between 11:00 p.m. Sunday and 1:00 a.m. Monday.

The thief or thieves stole mostly small items from unlocked cars parked in driveways, on the street and in garages.

Anyone with information should call Middleton Police.
