CrimeTracker 15: Suspect Steals Woman's Wallet

Incident Date: 11/30/2012 - 12:52 PM

Address: 1309 Williamson St. (St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store)

Suspect(s): Female, black, 40-50 years old, wearing a purple, thigh-length jacket and black pants.

Victim: Female, age 69, Madison

Details: The MPD is seeking your help in identifying a theft suspect who stole the wallet of a 69-year old woman from a cart last Friday as the victim shopped at St. Vincent de Paul, 1309 Williamson St. Following the crime, the suspect used the victim's debit card to withdraw cash from an ATM located at a Monona Walmart. A photo of the thief is attached. Anyone with information is asked to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.

    Correction. Police are trying to identify a thief. There is NO SUSPECT at this time. (Why are police and reporters so confused about the difference between a suspect and a perp?)
