According to the Madison Police Department, on Saturday morning a man was arrested after he allegedly spit in the face of an officer.
Police responded to 2800 Block of Curry Parkway in Madison for a report of a disturbance. According to a release, police investigated the disturbance and as a result arrested 24-year-old Johnny Martinez.
Police said while Martiez was in handcuffs and was being escorted to the squad car, he spit in the face of one of the Madison Police Officers.
According to a release, some of the saliva entered the officer's mouth. The officer was evaluated at a hospital and returned to duty.
Martiez was arrested for battery and throwing bodily fluids at public safety workers.
