From the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type:

Incident Date:
01/16/2012 - 3:15 PM

Address:
4301 Lien Rd. (Target)

Ms. Turner was arrested for Retail Theft -4 counts.

Terry G. Turner, age 30, Sun Prairie
Mr. Turner was arrested for Party to a Crime of Retail Theft - 3 counts.

Details:
A Sun Prairie husband and wife were arrested Monday for allegedly stealing 3 televisions from 2 Target stores on 3 occasions.

The MPD was notified by Target loss prevention officers that the suspects were in the Lien Rd. store Monday afternoon shop lifting a third 22" Samsung LED television. Surveillance video shows the woman placing the television on a cart, covering the TV with a coat, and placing a small child on top of the coat.

The loss prevention officer said similar ploys were used by the couple when they took the same model of television from the Junction Rd. Target store on January 4th and on January 5th.

When she was arrested Monday, the female suspect had a large green clipper in her purse, which the arresting officer said was likely used to cut anti-theft devices off of the televisions. Each retails for $250.

The woman was also in possession of a pawn shop sales slip.

its really sad i know times are tough but really did it have to come down to this. i dont know them and try not to pass judgement but this is wrong on so many levels. and the fact they pre planned this with the baby and the clippers makes it even that much worse. i hope this family gets some resources and help because living life like this is nothing but harmful.

GOOD people don't steal. Period. I've had bad "circumstances" myself and never even thought about opting for crime to pay my way.

actually you can't charge the people at the pawn shop. they most likely signed paperwork saying it was there stuff and they could legally sell it. i would also assume it would say something in the small print about them not being responsible if any of the items were in fact stolen, and they could even press charges against them. oh and i would guess that the first time they sold a tv, no big deal. the second time they sold it would probably raise a red flag and they'd keep an eye out for them. and they would most likely have been turned them away if they had tried to sell a 3rd tv [ BUT they got caught stealing the 3rd one]
