On February 3rd, 2012 at approximately 9:00pm, The Community Policing Team (Central) and support district officers conducted a surveillance operation in the 400 block of W. Mifflin Street, based on a number of area loitering/panhandling complaints.

A surveillance officer noticed a male subject, later identified as Bret Thompson, standing outside with no apparent purpose. The wind chill was noted to be 25 degrees, and Thompson contacted a 2005 Cadillac CTS, which was driven by Edward Bartlett. The officers suspected the probability of narcotics activity, and after contacting Bartlett, officers located approximately 9 grams of Crack Cocaine, and more than $4600 in US Currency! Officers arrested both parties, and Bartlett was conveyed to the Dane County Jail on all charges listed.
