Arrested: Ralph K. Cohen, age 33, Madison
Mr. Cohen was arrested for Battery and Disorderly Conduct.

Victim: Male, age 40, Chicago, IL

Details: Shouting swear words and derogatory statements at men donning red berets and matching jackets on a State Street Saturday night is probably not wise. Either is blurting out statements like: "You ain't ____," once again towards the same men in the red berets. But what can really land you in legal trouble is when you punch a Guardian Angel in the face, not once, but twice.

The blows landed an intoxicated 33-year old Madison man behind bars early Sunday morning. According to members of a Guardian Angels safety patrol, they were on patrol when they saw the suspect fighting with two other men outside of a tavern.

The Guardian Angels moved in to break up the violence, and in doing so, they escorted the suspect to the other side of the street. The suspect did not appreciate being relocated, and began the verbal abuse, which he followed up with fisticuffs.

Several Guardian Angels took the suspect to the ground and held him until the MPD arrived. The suspect told the arresting officer he was drunk and didn’t know what happened, but that he ended up with a bunch of Guardian Angels on top of him.
